Light and Shade

Today’s exercise, quick sketch; look at two objects and capture the effect light has on them. I decided to use charcoal as I like the contrast it produces and the way you can work into it, building up layers. The cup and bowl were lit from above by a large window and as it was a bright day so I decided to go with natural light rather than a lamp. On reflection (no pun intended) I think I’ll look at a more intense source of light for my next drawing as it doesn’t feel dramatic enough.
